45 dollars...one hour

Today was a very good day.

First...I woke up around 9 and made french toast and turkey bacon for breakfast. Then I got ready to go to West Forsyth High to sub for a math teacher. It was only a half day job.

When I got there I found out that she only teaches 5th and 6th period and has 7th period planning! Wahoo! Then.... I found out that they were going to shorten 5th and 6th periods today because they needed an extended 7th period due to testing! An even bigger WAHOO!! So, I was in the classroom from 1:05 to 2:05, no joke, and I'm gonna get paid for a half day, which is 45 bucks. I like this job! I should really be subbing more often!!! It makes me realize how much I hate Cracker Barrel!!

After school I went to a hair salon called Steel Roots. I got my hair done, FINALLY! I was in desperate need of highlights and even more desperate need for a cut. A young girl cut my hair and the owner, Tina, colored it....I think Tina did a really good job. I was very pleased and it only cost 82 dollars. Oh, I didn't get it cut like Hilary Duff's in that pic I posted on here...and I'm glad.

After the hair got did, I got on the treadmill....even though I was dreading it. I ran (and walked a little) 4.5 miles. After that I did my new Jillian Michael's DVD. It was torture, but in a good way. Its only 20 minutes long..she mixes cardio with weights and abs..and I liked it. You are supposed to do it everyday for 30 days....maybe I'll try that.

After the work out Jesse and I had slow-cooker beef stroganoff for dinner and it was delicious!

I finally got my 1st paycheck from the sub office today! They hold it forever and you only get paid once a month. I also got my WV Teaching Certification in the mail!!

I think tomorrow I may have to start packing :(

Another day...more biscuits and gravy

I felt better today. Still kinda icky, but better.

Cracker Barrel was absolutely awful today. In 2 hours I had only made $5.50!! At least I was training, so I make a little more per hour. I only waited on 12 people all day... I made 21 dollars in 3 and a half hours.

After work Jesse and I went to the library. I had a couple of James Patterson books and a Jillian Michael's work-out DVD to pick up. I needed to have a book to read for my sub job tomorrow. Then we had to go to Wal-Mart so that we actually had food to eat.

I ran on the treadmill for 5 miles...took a shower...and then Jesse made us some taco salads. They were delish! Since dinner I have been sitting at the kitchen table watching So You Think You Can Dance and playing on the Internet....and here I am now.

I'm sure I'll be writing tomorrow about my day of subbing. It feels like forever since I've been a substitute. The other night when we went to Texas Roadhouse our hostess looked at me and said, "You were a substitute at Reagan the other day, weren't you?" and I said, "Yes I was." and she said, "You were in one of my classes" Pretty funny!

What do you think of this hairdo for me?

hahaha... ok just kidding, I'm not into this hairstyle though I love "Total Eclipse of the Heart"

a boring day

I have nothing exciting to talk about today.

Work sucked...then Jesse and I went over to the apartment complex's gym and worked out a little. I didn't feel up to running.

We didn't have anything in the house for dinner... I mean, NOTHING.... I ended up making grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup, and a new recipe for sauteed peas and mushrooms, which was actually pretty good.

After dinner I started feeling really bad. I think I have a cold or allergies... I took 2 cold pills, but I still feel like crap.

I've been watching So You Think You Can Dance for the past 2 hours and I bet I've used over 30 tissues...and my eyes are all watery too. I hope I feel better tomorrow... I gotta go to stinky Cracker Barrel. At least its only for 3 hours, but I don't want to be snotting all over my trainee.

I've been trying to find some hairstyles that I like. I really like Hilary Duff's hair in this pic. What do you think...would it look good on me? Should I do the bangs? I haven't had bangs since 2nd grade so I'm not really sure. Tell me what you think...leave a comment below.

Now Jesse and I are gonna go watch a movie. Thats all I want to say about my boring day.

feel like a pig

Kitsy missed us this weekend. Since we've been back she's been sleeping on our suitcase. I think shes trying to keep us from leaving again!

I went to Cracker Barrel this morning and it was a pretty good day. I stayed busy and the day went by fairly quickly.

On the way home from Cracker Barrel I called Jesse and he told me that we were gonna eat dinner with Holli and Lester at Texas Roadhouse. Holli got some free coupons for appetizers...so we got a cactus blossom onion thingie and cheese fries. They were HUGE! I tried not to eat too much...but it was hard. Jesse and I got a combo platter with a sirloin and BBQ chicken. I didn't even eat a roll. I was still stuffed when I left there.

Then we went to Old Navy and I got the bathing suit cover-up that I had been wanting....except they didn't have the color that I wanted...BUT, I got it on sale. I was going to pay 25 dollars for it, but I only ended up paying 9 dollars. Jesse also got a pair of swimming trunks which are really cute. (see pic below)

During the day today...Holli, Lester and Jesse went over to the apartment's pool. Holli got sunburned. Lester didn't because he put on SPF 50, but Jesse got freakin' burned alive. He is so red!

He searched on the Internet for home cures for sunburns...and later I saw him spray his body with vinegar, hold a bag of frozen strawberries on his chest, and then rub mustard all over himself! I told him that he looked like a gigantic hot dog...and the smell was putrid. He even went upstairs to Holli and Lester's topless with the mustard all over him. Mixed with his red skin, the yellow mustard made Jesse look an Oompa Loompa!!

After gorging myself ...I did run a little on the treadmill...I did 4 miles even though I felt like throwing up.

After that we went upstairs (with the mustard still on his chest, neck and arms) and played Scattergories with the Conn's. It was fun, but I was not very good at that game.

back in NC

Jesse and I are back in WV after a good weekend in WV.

On Saturday I went shopping with my mom for stuff for a cookout. We bought a cornhole type game and another game called ladder ball...and of course, all the stuff for hamburgers!

After we got home from our shopping trip I changed into a tank top and shorts and layed outside in the backyard of my parents house. It was a BEAUTIFUL day!! I finished my James Patterson book and now I need another one!! Jesse spent the whole day helping his brother build a deck in his backyard.

On Sunday we went to church at Maranatha. We had seen on the news the other day about a lady from Maranatha who had been declared brain dead for like 17 hours and then came back to life. It was a miracle! What a great story! I would recommend sunday's sermon by James Wright to anyone who wants to know more info about healing and about what happened to this woman. Their website is http://www.mfctoday.org/.

Here is a video from where it was on the news.

After church my parents had a cookout in their backyard with my dad's family. I ate way too much...and then we went to Jesse's dad's house to celebrate his 56th birthday. It was a fun time and I took lots of photos of the kids...and they even took some of me! (I know....scary)

We brought ladder ball with us and we had a lot of fun playing it.

Sunday was also our 6th anniversary! Maybe next year we'll do something special.

Today we went to Jesse's Mom's house in Charleston and tried to have a picnic, but it was a muddy rainy mess. Then we drove back to NC...and here we are....

Tomorrow back to the Cracker Barrel at 8:30 am...blah.

Thursday..and I don't have to work!

Today I slept in til around 10 at Brian and Jessica's house. Then we went over to my parents where I made myself some oatmeal and took a shower.

Then Jesse and I drove to Teays Valley and picked up Brian. We went down to the court house and then to Lowe's and the mall. I had to wait a freakin' hour at the clinique counter just to get one tube of makeup. The lady in front of me bought over 150 dollars worth of stuff, mostly moisturizer. She just kept asking questions. I really hate the way they have those makeup counters set up. Its very inconvienent for those of us that come there already knowing what we want. What they want...are the people like the lady in front of me; people who aren't sure and so they get talked into buying a ton of crap that they don't really need.

After that.... we went to Burger King. I like to get Whopper Jrs with no cheese, no mayo and extra pickles. Well, Jesse told them what I wanted but...of course.... I didn't get it "my way" and instead they put mayo on there. I had to wipe it off with a napkin and then I accidently wiped mayo all over my face.

After the mall we went to Jesse's Dad's house in Ona and hung out for a little bit.

Then we went to the Teays Valley YMCA where I had to get a trial 3 day pass. I changed clothes and went into the gym and ran on the treadmill. I ran for 4 and half miles of torture. It made me really thankful that I have my own treadmill at home. I had to watch ESPN with no sound..and it really felt like I had to force myself to keep running.

I was UNIMPRESSED with that Y. I definately wouldn't pay the 40 plus dollars a month to work out there. They only have a few treadmills that are decent. The whole gym area is very cramped and crowded. I really feel like the cardio area should be separate from the weight room, but they have them all smooshed together. It is a really nice building with a nice basketball gym and pools, but...its not good for women. I guess a lot of people go there because its the only place around here...and I think they treat it like a social network.

After the workout we stopped at Kroger and even though I was all sweaty and gross....I changed back into my regular clothes in the car. Then we went to Brian and Jessica's and ate and hung out for awhile.

oh...by the way... David Cook did win American Idol and I was glad. This was the first year I didn't really have a favorite. I would have been happy if either of them won.

Happy Bday Jesse!

Soooo.....Today I went to Cracker Barrel and I found someone to take my Thursday 11-2:30 pidley little 3 hour shift. Then I volunteered to leave early...at around noon. I came home and packed up my stuff...and Jesse and I were off to WV in his Acura.

When we got to WV it seemed like everyone was at church! So...we went to Subway and got an oven roasted chicken breast sub with honey mustard on honey oat bread, which was delicious!!

Then we went over to Winfield Elementary School and Jesse played basketball while I sat and read my book.

After a little while we went over to Brian & Jessica's and sat on their porch swing until they got home from church. We decided to stay the night at their house tonight instead of coming in late to my parents house.

Tomorrow we are supposed to go to Huntington...and we're supposed to go to the mall. I need some makeup from clinique and Jesse needs some new swimming trunks.

haha...doggie treadmill

Its very important for dogs to get their exercise, but this is ridiculous!

American Idol Finals were GREAT!

Hey so I was really entertained tonight by the last 2 American Idol contestants!! I think this is the first time that I've not really had a favorite in the finals. I think David Cook will sell more records, but I think Archuleta is just adorable and probably a better singer. Now I'm really really excited about "So You Think You Can Dance," my fav!!

Today I had to go to yucky Cracker Barrel...but I was only there for 4 hours thankfully! It wasn't a bad day, but I only made 42 dollars. Tomorrow I gotta be there from 9:30 to 2:30.

I really pushed myself on the treadmill today. I payed more attention to minutes today rather than miles. First I ran at 7.6 mph for 10 minutes..then walked for 2 minutes at 4.5 mph. Then I ran at 7.8 mph for 5 minutes...and, well, you get the picture. At the end I was running at 8 mph for a few minutes at a time. Altogether I went 5 miles in 46 minutes, making my average speed 6.52 mph! And my knee wasn't even hurting!

Lester and Holli came over and watched Idol with us...then Jesse and I watched Hells Kitchen. Now we're watching Law & Order; SVU.

Middle School Art...was fun!!

Today I taught in an art classroom in Northwest Middle School. It was a pretty good day! I really love middle school here in Winston-Salem because they start very early and they get out really early too! Today I was home before 2:30 pm. It does stink having to wake up at 5:30 am but I'm sure I'd get used to it after awhile.

Today I had 1st period planning, then 2 classes of 7th graders, lunch, 2 classes of 8th graders, and finally 2 classes of 6th graders. The only class that was a little loud and crazy was the 1st class of 6th graders. So, it was a good day!

After school I laid outside in the beautiful sunshine with Jesse. Then off to the treadmill, of course. Its an addiction now I think. I finished watching Ever After...and I ran almost 4 miles without stopping today. My stupid knee was hurting again. I think I need to buy a knee brace.

Tomorrow I gotta go to Cracker Barrel..boooo. But I do get to sleep in a bit! And tomorrow night is AMERICAN IDOL FINALS!!

Teachers are Heroes

Teachers are Heroes: An essay written by J.Bradley, an assistant principal in Ohio .

"Where are the heroes of today?" a radio talk show host thundered. He blames society's shortcomings on education. Too many people are looking for heroes in all the wrong places. Movie stars androck musicians, athletes, and models aren't heroes; they're celebrities. Heroes abound in public schools, a fact thatdoesn't make the news. There is no precedent for the level of violence, drugs, broken homes, child abuse, and crime in today's America . Education didn't create these problems but deals with them every day.

You want heroes? Consider Dave Sanders, the schoolteacher shot to death while trying to shield his students from two youths on a shooting rampage at Columbine High School in Littleton , Colorado. Sanders gave his life, along with 12 students, and other less heralded heroes survived the Colorado blood bath.

You want heroes? Jane Smith, a Fayetteville , NC teacher, was moved by the plight of one of her students, a boy dying for want of a kidney transplant. So this woman told the family of a 14 year old boy that she would give him one of her kidneys. And she did. When they subsequently appeared together hugging on the Today Show, even Katie Couric was near tears.

You want heroes? Doris Dillon dreamed all her life of being a teacher. She notonly made it, she was one of those wondrous teachers who could bring the best out of every single child. One of her fellow teachers in San Jose , Calif. , said, "She could teach a rock to read." Suddenly she was stricken with Lou Gehrig's Disease which is always fatal, usually within five years. She asked to stay on the job ... and did. When her voice was affected she communicated by computer. Did she go home? Absolutely not! She is running two elementary school libraries! When the disease was diagnosed, she wrote the staff and all the families that she had one last lesson to teach ... that dying is part of living. Her colleagues named her Teacher of the Year.

You want heroes? Bob House, a teacher in Gay, Georgia, tried out for Who Wants to be a Millionaire. After he won the million dollars, a network film crew wanted to follow up to see how it had impacted his life. New cars? Big new house? Instead, they found both Bob House and his wife still teaching. They explained that it was what they had always wanted to do with their lives and that would not change. The community was both stunned and gratified.

You want heroes? Last year the average school teacher spent $468 of their own money for student necessities ... workbooks, pencils ..supplies kids had to have but could not afford. That's a lot of money from the pockets of the most poorly paid teachers in the industrial world.

Schools don't teach values? The critics are dead wrong. Public education provides more Sunday School teachers than any other profession. The average teacher works more hours in nine months than the average 40-hour employee does in a year.

You want heroes? For millions of kids, the hug they get from a teacher is the only hug they will get that day because the nation is living through the worst parenting in history. An Argyle, Texas kindergarten teacher hugs her little 5 and 6 year-olds so much that both the boys and the girls run up and hug her when they see her in the hall, at the football games,or in the malls years later.

A Michigan principal moved me to tears with the story of her attempt to rescue a badly abused little boy who doted on a stuffed animal on her desk ... one that said "I love you!" He said he'd never been told that at home. This is a constant in today's society ... two million unwanted, unloved, abused children in the public schools, the only institution that takes them all in.

You want heroes? Visit any special education class and watch the miracle of personal interaction, a job so difficult that fellow teachers are awed by the dedication they witness. There is a sentence from an unnamed source which says: "We have been so eager to give our children what we didn't have that we have neglected togive them what we did have."What is it that our kids really need? What do they really want? Math, science, history and social studies are important, but children need love, confidence, encouragement, someone to talk to, someone to listen, standards to live by. Teachers provide upright examples, the faith and assurance of responsible people.

You want heroes? Then go down to your local school and see our real live heroes the ones changing lives for the better each and every day!

yesterday=good day

Yesterday was absolutely beautiful! It was in the 70's without a cloud in the sky! We went over to Kernersville to a park there called Kernersville Lake Park. We rented a pedalboat and pedalled around for 45 minutes...well actually it was more like 30 minutes cause Jesse's legs got sore. It didn't seem hard for me to pedal, but I guess he was doing most of it.

Afterwards we ate lunch at Cracker Barrel in Greensboro. We had a gold card and we ate a TON of food. We both had ribeyes and salads...and afterwards 2 strawberry shortcakes. YUM!

Later I layed in the sun and read my new book by James Patterson called Sam's Letters to Jennifer. Its really good so far. I think I may have found my new author (since I'm almost done with all of Spark's books)

Then Jesse and I went over to West Forsyth High School and we ran around the track a little. It sucked, I like the treadmill better. Then we went over to Meadowlark and played basketball. Yes, I played too! :)

This morning we went to church. It was rather uneventful. (Jesse says it was boring) Then we came home and ate chicken tortilla soup that we made in the crock pot.

I ran on the treadmill while watching my favorite movie of all time, Ever After...ended up going 5 miles even though my knee hurt a little.

Now... I gotta go get ready for school tomorrow. I'm teaching Art at a middle school.

2 crazy daze....

Yesterday I went to North Forsyth High School as a sub for one of their Art teachers.

It wasn't bad...but I had my first mad teacher moment. In 4th period I told the students their assignments (which was all book work) and then I started writing a note for the teacher. When I looked up a couple minutes later, 4 or 5 students had large papers, paint bottles and brushes out. One student had dumped piles of paint onto one of the large sheets of paper. They had wasted SO much paint that I got really angry. I folded up their paper with the paint on it and tossed it in the trash can. Then I told them to clean up their mess and put everything away. I know they could tell I was ticked 'cause the whole class was silent.

Luckily that was the last class of the day since they do 4 Blocks a day there.

Last night Jesse cooked dinner. Baked Ziti and it was very good! I didn't run since my knee has been hurting, but I did my yoga video instead.

After that we watched "P.S. I Love You" and it was a good movie. It was a very sad movie though. Afterwards Jesse said "That was sad; Makes me wanna wear my seat belt" If youve seen it then you know its about a woman whose husband dies. I'm always badgering Jesse to wear his seat belt but he refuses.

Today I went back to the same school for the same teacher as yesterday. It was a crazy day because they had some special program for the seniors in the morning and afterwards it seemed like all the students left. I had my 2nd angry teacher moment in the same class today. A girl tried to pierce her lip in class with a nasty needle. I told her she was "about 5 seconds from getting wrote up and sent to the office." She asked to go to the bathroom and I said, "Not if you're going to come back to class with something in your face" and she said, "fine" and didn't leave.

I'm really glad that its Friday. Its amazing how much faster it seems the weekend comes now that I'm not working at Cracker Barrel 5 days a week! I don't know if its because I'm doing 2 different jobs, or if its because I like subbing more than waiting tables, or if its just something different ( I have been waiting tables for 4 and a half years)

I don't know what the rest of the evening holds...but I've been trying to get Jesse to take me to Kernersville Lake Park tomorrow. They have paddle boats to rent there and it looks nice :) Sounds like a nice Saturday to me!!

went to CB today...

Went to CB today....worked. It wasn't too bad.

Tomorrow I gotta go in at 8:30 but I found someone to take my shift on Thursday! YAY!

Tonight I really feel that I got a lot accomplished. I layed out in the sunshine for a while when I first got home. I came inside...ran the vacuum and cleaned up again. I did a load of laundry, ran the dishwasher, unloaded the dishwasher, ran on the treadmill (knee was hurting again) took a shower....and since then I've been playing around on the internet. Since my knees been hurting I decided that I need to take it easy for awhile. Tomorrow I'll probably do my yoga video.

Now... I'm gonna go watch L&O;SVU.

I thought Idol was good... I don't know who will be going home. Probably Syesha even though she was good.

1st time @ Reagan

Well.... yesterday I didn't blog. It was a very lazy kinda day...you know, rainy and stuff. I didn't do much of anything but make a big pot of chili. Jesse and I had chili and peanut butter & honey sandwiches!... yum!

Today I went to Reagan High School. Its a brand new high school in Pfafftown. It was really nice...I was subbing for a "traveling" teacher, (for those of you who don't know what that is...its a teacher without a classroom) which I thought that I would hate...but it wasn't that bad, because they have large "teacher workrooms" They are like teachers lounges with office spaces attached. Each traveling teacher has a little cubicle area to call their own. I thought they were really lucky to have that. My dad is a traveling teacher at Winfield and I know he would LOVE to have a space like that.

Since I'm going to be at the beach in a few weeks... I've decided that I have to get serious about my diet & exercise plan. I started counting calories today....which is a bummer, but it has to be done. Those calories are sneaky lil devils and they'll rack up on you if you don't keep a close watch on 'em!! Like today... I realized that I've been drinking between 80 and 100 calories thanks to my coffee creamer!! I think I'm going to stop drinking coffee alltogether..at least for the summer. I've only been drinking it when I get up early and go to a school.

Another example..... this morning I ate half of a pb & h sandwich...and it totaled over 300 calories!! (I'm assuming that I ate 2 tbsp. of peanut butter...and I probably did, cause I like a lot of peanut butter!!)

I'm going to use a website called mycaloriecounter.everydayhealth.com. Today... according to my best estimates I had about 1481 calories...I really need to try to eat less sodium and less sugar, too.

I did get on the treadmill today. I ran about 3 miles and my knee started hurting. I walked another mile at 5 or 6% incline to make 4 miles in 45 minutes. I hope my knee feels better tomorrow!!!

I have to work at the barrel tomorrow and I'm slightly depressed about it. :( booooooo

i work 4 weekends!!

Today was a nice day! I slept way too long, but its ok.

Jesse and I woke up....had a little breakfast...and then I went outside to sit in the sun and read a little. After that I drank a smoothie and then ran on the treadmill. I walked the first .25 mile and then I ran for 4 miles straight... over 4.25 miles in all. I did that while watching more episodes of How I Met Your Mother.

Then I took a shower and got ready to go out with Jesse. We went to Romano's Macaroni Grill and it was delicious!! I had the Pasta Milano and Jesse had the Penne Rustica. I liked his best...it was really good. We got a free appetizer and I ordered the calamari cause we had never tried it before. I won't be ordering it again. It was chewy.

Afterwards we went to Barnes & Noble and looked around. A high school jazz ensemble was playing. Then we went to a park in Lewisville and just walked around a little.

Since we got home I've been shopping online, mostly on Amazon. Did you know you could buy groceries on there? I was amazed! You have to buy in bulk and I think the prices are a little high, but its still cool.

Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet.I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog continues to receive special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

here I am again....

I'm still at North Forsyth. I'm on planning period right now and I'm bored. I sat in a silent classroom for the last period (which is an hour and a half) and now I'm sitting here in this room alone until 2:11 pm. Don't get me wrong...this is almost the easiest 90 bucks I ever made...and I'm not complaining. I just wanted to blog so I had something to do.

According to my plans I will have 6 students from Mrs. Parker's class during 4th period and thats all. I'm not really sure about Mrs. Ledwith's class, hopefully none though, because she didn't leave me any plans for them.

la la la la la......... still bored.

oh, I know..... I have something that I wanted to post. It was a forward that my Mom sent me..hehehe, its really funny. ok...brb

ToRnAdOs!!

So in case you didn't hear....the Winston area was hit with severe thunderstorms and a few tornados yesterday. I didn't get to blog because Kitsy and I were holed up in the bathroom with pillows over my head. Jesse was standing next to the window watching like a big dufus. <---is that how you spell dufus? haha!

Anyway.... It was a crazy night but everything was fine! :) A few houses were hit in the Advance and Greensboro area.

Currently I am sitting in a classroom at North Forsyth High with 3 students in it. Its been a crazy morning!! I was supposed to sub for one lady...but when I got here they sent me to another teachers room. I had 2 sets of lesson plans for 1st period, but only one set (for the other teacher) for the rest of the day! It was so confusing, but I think I have it figured out. Most of their students went on a field trip today so I am just filling in for the ones they left behind.

1st period was a bunch of hooligans, but I think I will have really small classes for the rest of the day! YAY! Plus, I got lucky and one of the students stayed logged on on this computer so I am able to get on the internet! YIPPIE!

Well.... I better go now, I'll write more later tonight probably.

can't blog....

gotta get off the internet cause there is a big thunderstorm coming!!

soooo looooong

Today I went to West Forsyth High School...I taught biology and earth science. It was a good day and very easy, but it felt like it drug on and on forever!

When I finally got home I got on the treadmill and watched some episodes of How I Met Your Mother. Then I took a shower...ate leftovers...Holli & Lester came over to see who got booted from Idol (Yay!, it was Jason!!)....It was really a boring day.

But now...I'm drinking a smoothie and life is good. :)

I have to go to Cracker Barrel tomorrow...boooooooo!

aahh.. a day off

Today I didn't get a sub job....so Jesse and I slept the day away! I didn't get out of bed until almost 11 o'clock!!!

Later we just kinda hung out...and I started some beef stroganoff in the crock pot.

I wanted to go to the pool, but Jesse can't go because of his nasty crusty rash.

So, we watched a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother on his laptop and then I ran on the treadmill. I was pretty proud of myself, cause I walked for only 2 minutes...then I ran for 43 minutes straight at either 6.0, 6.2, or 7.0 mph. I ended up going 4.71 miles in 45 minutes. That makes my average speed 6.28 mph!!

After that we went to the library to pick up some fitness videos that I had put on hold. Then we went to the Hanes Mall for a little bit. I really need some new running shoes, but I didn't find anything I liked.

Tonight we watched American Idol with Holli & Lester in our apartment. They don't have cable anymore. I was much happier with this weeks show. Last week was pretty crappy. Tonight I think Simon was 100% right to say that David Archuletta CRUSHED the competition. I'd have to say Jason SHOULD be the one going home. He was awful.

Tomorrow I'm going to a high school thats only 5 minutes away to teach Science...4 classes of Biology and 1 class of Earth Science. I'm glad that I don't have to be there until 8:30 am! :)

Happy Birthday Lester/Happy Cinco de Mayo

Today was a good day. I went to Jefferson Middle School and it was a very unique experience. I had homeroom from 7 to 7:25 am. Then students went to Block One. Block 1 lasted from 7:30 until 9:25. I taught the students Math and Science during that time. From 9:30 to 11:12 I had 2nd Block. From 11:15 to 11:38 I had to take the students to lunch. Then the same students from Block 2 came back to the classroom where we finished up Block 2, also Math and Science.

The students were pretty good. They were all good kids but some of them were loud mouths. The were friendly and asked me to sit and eat lunch with them. I felt like one of them eating my pudding out of a lunch box. I had a fruit roll-up (the kind with tongue tatoos printed on them) and when I opened it one of the girls says, "You should put the tatoos on your tongue!" So I did! haha... It was fun!

The kids in Block two left the classroom at 12:18 to go to their related arts classes, so I had planning for the entire rest of the day. I went to the office to see if they needed any coverage for the rest of the day. but they didn't. So I got to leave at 12:30. It felt really good to get paid for a whole day and be done at 12:30!!

After school Jesse and I went to Wal-Mart. Then I did some kind of "Crunch" fitness video from Netflix that you can watch instantly on your laptop. It was pretty cool. Jesse even hooked it up so the video was shown on our TV! After that (it wasnt such a great workout) I ran/walked 3 miles on the treadmill.

My sunburn hurts a little today.

After dinner Holli and Lester came down and we pulled a birthday cake out of the fridge! SURPRISE! Today was his 30th birthday! We had cake and ice cream and played monopoly until 10:30.

Now I'm really sleepy and I think its time for bed...even though I have yet to find a job for tomorrow. I was going to go to a music job at Meadowlark Elementary School tomorrow. It had special instructions and it said to call in to hear them. So, I did...and the special instructions were to report to Piney Grove Elementary School, which is all the way across the city in Kernersville. So, I declined the job.........now I'm still looking for another

burned alive

Today was a BEAUTIFUL day!! It was 76 degrees and sunny without humidity and just perfect.

After church Jesse and I had our first taste of Backyard Burgers. Its kinda funny cause now that we are moving back we are trying to try all the stuff Winston has to offer that WV doesn't. I have to admit..Backyard Burgers was good. Expensive, but good. For our two "bundle meals" we paid over 12 dollars. I tried to get the nutritional info on their site, but it said "coming soon."

After eating lunch, I took Kitsy for a little walk. Then I decided I wanted to pull out my lawn chair and lay outside. So I did, wearing a tank top and shorts...for 2 and a half hours...while reading The Guardian.

I finally decided to come back inside.... only to realize, my skin was red and itchy. I am really sunburned, but only on the front of my arms and the front of my legs. My face didn't burn because I wear sunscreen every day, thank goodness!

It was so nice outside..I wasn't even hot or sweaty or anything. So, I didn't realize that I was getting burnt. Oops!

After this... I cleaned our master bathroom because it was getting nasty. I have never hated cleaning a bathtub more than the bathtub here!! It is all bright white tile and the grout is a great place for mold and mildew to grow. Its so disgusting and the only thing that works on it is bleach! So that took an eternity....and my hands smell like a janitor.

After my cleaning fest I got on the Substitute finder website and booked a job for tomorrow at a middle school. I'm kinda depressed about that because middle schools start at the crack of dawn. Oh well, it does mean that I'll be home earlier! I'm subbing for a 6th grade math and science teacher. I'll write about it tomorrow.

I love the smell of books...

I realized that love the smell of books today. Even the old and musty ones. Books make me happy and the smell of them brings back nice memories. Does anyone else feel that way?

I realized this a little while ago when I was laying in a warm bath reading The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks. I finished The Rescue this morning. Yes, I cried a little.

Today we woke up...I made french toast...we went to Target...and the Dollar Tree. Then we went back to that garden and green house (The Reynolda House Gardens) that we went to a few months ago with my parents and Flat Stanley. Holli wanted to take pictures of flowers. It was a really nice day for it. That place was crawling with Grandma's.

When we got home Jesse and I watched a movie called The Brave One. It has Jodi Foster and Terrence Howard in it. I really like him...and I think he's attractive. It was a good movie. Neither of us had even heard of the movie before.

After that I worked out, doing weights until my legs, abs, and arms were jello. After that is when I took a bath and read that book.

It was a pretty relaxing day....I hope tomorrow is the same.

beautiful day!

The weather was wonderful today....

I went to Cracker Barrel this morning at 9...and I got cut around noon. I told them that I would go home because it was really slow and I wasn't making any money. I only sold 96 dollars worth of food today...and I made 20 bucks.

After work I stopped at the grocery store to get some milk. Then I came home and took a little nap.

When I woke up I decided that I would do my yoga video...and then I took a long bath. I am almost finished with The Rescue, by Nicholas Sparks.

Jesse went to go play basketball with Lester and they were gone for a long time. While they were gone I cooked "Angel Chicken Pasta" Its a recipe that I haven't made for a long time. I thought it was pretty good, with mushrooms, cream cheese, and angel hair pasta. We also had salads.

After dinner we went upstairs and hung out with Holli and Lester a bit. Tomorrow I think we are gonna go shopping.

i love shopping

response 2 Jessica's comment

Jessrbowen...I don't think I've lost any weight really. Maybe a little. Its kinda depressing. I'm just hoping that if I keep it up eventually I'll get it all toned up. At this point, I'm not really willing to change my diet all that much (although I have been doing better)...so it may take awhile.

When you realize how many calories you burn by running a mile, it makes it harder to eat unnecessary empty calories...so I guess I have changed my diet a little.

Mostly I run because I love the way it makes me feel. I'm so glad I have time to do it now.

just watched 27 Dresses...

and it was really cute. I liked it a lot.

Holli and Lester just left a few minutes ago. They brought Blackberry Cobbler and ice cream....yummmm!

Today I worked at Cracker Barrel. When I got there it was really strange because I saw my name on the floorplan, but when I tried to clock in, the computer system said that I wasn't scheduled. What the heck? haha... I think they suspected that I might call in again, or just never come back!! hahaha....... I was in the smoking section too. They must love me. (<---sarcasm)Then when next week's schedules came out, I was only scheduled 2 days!

oh well, I'll just get to sub more! YAY!! I love subbing! I get paid to sit and read books and magazines. :)

I ran on the treadmill today. I walked a half mile..and then I ran (at 6.0 mph) for 3.5 miles straight w/o stopping!! yay! I think that's my new record. I don't ever remember running that much before. I think it took me about 43 minutes to go 4 miles. That's an average of 5.58 mph.

OK, so I know that everyone may not be interested in my exercise routine and stuff...but I like to keep a record of it..and seriously, I consider my blog to be a diary of my life anywho. So really...its all for me. I just let you read it.

quick blog....

This is gotta be quick cause Holli is coming down here to watch 27 Dresses with me in just a few minutes....

actually, I'm gonna go now...and I'll write more later
