Check out this story. I can't believe this.

This really shows how much people need Jesus.

hehe...sneaky, sneaky

I'm being sneaky because... currently I am sitting in a classroom...watching 5 eighth graders type away at their computers. The teacher that I am subbing for left her computer logged on so today I can get online! YAY! The 8th graders here went on their eighth grade trip to the coast this morning. So I will only have a few 8th graders in 1st and 2nd period today. They are working on a research paper in MLA format and a keyboarding program called Microtype.

Oh my gosh...I am SO sore from doing that dang yoga video yesterday. I found that while I was doing it yesterday I seemed to be getting better at it. Anyway... I put more into it..and I guess that means I am currently getting more out of it. I know my back hurts, my arms hurt, my abs are sore and most of all, my butt hurts.

Here is my schedule for today

8th grade 1st period 7:39 - 8:24
2nd period 8:28-9:13
planning 9:13-9:42
7th grade 3rd period 9:46-10:31
4th period 10:35-11:20
Lunch/planning 11:20-12:17
6th grade 5th period 12:21 - 1:06
6th period 1:10 -1:55

After school is out today Jesse and I have to drive to some place an hour away to get new tires put on my car. I am really glad because I have been driving Jesse's car since my tires are so bald. I hate driving Jesse's car.

I guess I won't be exercising today since we have to go do that.

I'm sure I will be watching American Idol later. I think, I HOPE that Brooke White goes home tonight!!!

1st time subbing @ a middle school

Today I subbed at a local middle school...and like I said yesterday I had to be there at 7 am! Well, I got there...its a really nice school..and I was in the computer lab. When I tried to unlock the door, someone opened it from inside. It was the teacher! She was sitting in a dark classroom so her students wouldn't bug her. haha..

She was taking 8 eighth graders to a soup kitchen for a field trip. We talked a little and then she asks me if I was the sub that was coming tomorrow, too because she was taking a few 7th graders on a field trip tomorrow.

I was like, "no" I only saw one day. She looks it up on her computer and it says that I AM the sub for tomorrow. I pulled up my info from the substitute website and I didn't see anything about subbing tomorrow....and I was supposed to work at Cracker Barrel!

Then I noticed... really really small... it said 4/29/2008 at 7:00 AM until 4/30/2008 at 2:15 PM (A)

and well, I just didn't notice that it said 4/29 and 4/30! So.. I felt bad, but I had to call in to Cracker Barrel. That means tomorrow I will have to wake up before 6 am once again!

It was really nice getting home at 2! :) After school I took a short nap w/ Jesse and then I did my yoga video.

I made enchiladas for dinner...and then we watched American Idol with the Conn's. I have to mention that it was quite possibly the most boring episode of American Idol EVER! Whats up with the old fogey's crap they've been doin' lately?? Neil Diamond, the Beatle's, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Dolly Parton, BLAH!

now... I gotta get to bed 5:45 comes early.

day 2 of not wanting to blog

Today was a good day of subbing. I taught Advanced Mathematical Functions and Precalculus. The students were really friendly.

Got home...ran on the treadmill 4.50 miles.....thats about it.

Tomorrow I gotta be at the school at 7 am.... and I think I'm bitter about it.

dont feel like blogging

Today was kinda boring.

Jesse still feels bad..but he is feeling better he says. He still hasn't gone to see a doctor. He's stubborn.

I went to church w/ Holli and Lester. Jesse was too sick.

Before church I put 2 cornish hens in the crock pot...and after church we ate them! And they were really good!

I messed around a little while...and then went to Kohl's & Target.

When I got home I ran 2 miles on the treadmill...it onlu took 18 minutes! :)

Now... I've gotta pack up my lunch for tomorrow. I am subbing at North Forsyth.

ok....done

newsflash..

this just in...
We now think Jesse may have viral meningitis. I am making him go to the doctor ASAP. So..pray for him please.

chickenpox leftovers

I love Saturdays... I got to sleep in and just rest all day.

Well..actually I've been organizing and cleaning up my kitchen all day, but it was my choice!! I still need to run the vacuum cleaner and do some more laundry.

Jesse is still feeling really crappy. I didn't think that he had chickenpox, but I'm thinkin' now that he might. He still has the same symptoms but his fever is gone. His rash is looking worse...but I still don't know if it looks like chickenpox. Today there was a small little blister on one of the red spots which led me to believe that it could be chickenpox. His mom said that all 5 of her kids had them at the same time. She said that Jesse had them when he was around 4 years old. Well, maybe his initial case was really mild...I read on the Internet that sometimes people do get chickenpox twice. We've determined that it isn't shingles though.

If he's not feeling better by Monday.. I'm going to try to get him to go to the doctor. He's done nothing today but sleep.

Yesterday I went to West Forsyth High School and subbed for a social studies teacher named Mr. Bilton. It was a really good day. I had to cover for a different teacher during one of Mr. Bilton's planning periods. It was a Spanish 3 class....and there weren't any lesson plans at all!! A student said that when a sub came in to cover the class in the morning they found lesson plans that were all in Spanish!! The student said the sub got mad and ripped them up! hahaha....
What kind of a teacher leaves plans in Spanish? Since I didn't have any plans I told the students they could work on homework or have a free day.

In Mr. Bilton's class I had to take up homework, show a video, and then take up a fact sheet about the video. I had no problems whatsoever.

Friday night I ran on the treadmill and watched How I Met Your Mother again. It was great! :) I ran 2.75 miles w/o stopping. After that I took a shower, made Jesse and I some grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, then we watched Gone Baby Gone with Holli.

At around 11:15 we decided to make a midnight run to Walmart! We didn't get back home until around 1 am!

Country Roads..Take me Home!!

Ok... so the big news I've been talking about is that I'm having a babY!! hahaha...OK, just kidding. I AM NOT PREGNANT. It was a joke. Please don't ask me if I'm pregnant, cause I ain't.

The actual big news is that Jesse and I are moving back to WV!! WahoOO!

Jesse and I moved down here to Winston-Salem, NC because he and Lester were opening a branch of UA down here. Well, that didn't pan out the way it was planned...and UA kinda wen't downhill anyway. So a couple months ago they switched to begin selling major medical health insurance from Assurant. Well.. long story short, with Assurant they are able to work in WV. There is nothing here in NC that we are tied to... In fact, Jesse and Lester have 4 or 5 "employees" in WV and zero here. Soooo... with that being said...we are outta here!!

I had to wait to post anything about it until I told my parents. I didn't want them to find out from someone else.

ok....thats the future but for right now, I'm still here in NC.

I worked at Cracker Barrel today. I trained Heather again...which was good. I didn't make much money today though. :(

Jesse hasn't been feeling well.. He swears he has shingles. I called my mom (who had shingles a few years ago) and we determined that he doesn't have shingles. But...he feels achey all over, lethargic, he has a bad headache, an itchy rash on his belly, and a slight fever (99.5) So who knows.

I took a 30 min. nap when I got home... then I went to BB&T to get a form notarized to get my WV Teaching Certificate. We gave Holli a ride home from BB&T (where she works) because she lost her keys this morning..haha. She ended up finding them tonight in her end table.

I didn't run today. I just did a lot of weight stuff instead. It wore me out. haha! I'd rather run 5 miles then do that. Now my arms feel like jello.

Survivor was good. I'm glad they blindsided Jason!! He should have played the idol!

Now I gotta go get ready to sub tomorrow! I'm teaching US History and AP US History tomorrow! Tomorrow I'm sure I'll write about how it goes... for now, GOODNIGHT!

another day at the barrel

Today was a decent day at CB. I trained a girl named Heather and she is a really hard worker...and that always helps. I stayed decently busy and made a little bit of money...YAY!

At around 2 I couldn't wait to go home, but the girl who was taking my spot on the floorplan called and said she was going to be late... so I had to stay until she got there. But..it worked out because Jesse came in around 2:30 with Brian!! Brian was working in Raleigh so he drove over to see us! He and Jesse hit golf balls and hung out a little..and then came to CB. So I waited on them...and then I finally got to leave a little after 3.

So, I came home....and chatted with Brian for a few minutes until he had to leave.

Then I got on the treadmill and ran for an hour. Today I walked every other quarter mile at 4 to 4.5 mph and then ran the other on e at 8 mph. I went somewhere around 5.3 miles all together. The best part was that I got to watch How I Met Your Mother Season One on DVD while I ran!! It was great! I love that show and it was so cool not to have commercials while I ran. It made me really happy!

Tonight Holli, Jesse and I went to Monte De Rey and had dinner. I had a chicken quesadilla! YUM!

Then we watched American Idol. .. I cannot believe that Carly was the one voted off! I could not have predicted that one! But..Holli called it. She said that Carly would get voted off because she wasn't American.. Last week the Aussie was voted out..and this week the Irish chick. I think she might be right! I thought it should have been Brooke or Jason and they weren't even in the bottom 2! I guess people feel sorry for the people that screw up and vote for them.

Now I'm gonna go eat my leftovers from Monte De Rey! yes, at 11 pm, so what?

soooo sleeeepy........

Oh gee....where to start.

This weekend... Jesse and I drove home on Friday evening after I got home from work at Cracker Barrel. We got to my parents house and Jesse dropped me off...and he went to play basketball with Brian. I ate lasagna and a salad that my Mom made.

After dinner my Dad built a fire in their fire bowl and we sat around outside talking for awhile.

On Saturday morning Jesse woke up and went to the Y with Brian. I woke up and went shopping at South Ridge with my Mom. I bought 3 shirts, some pj's, and a bathing suit...YAY! I'm not totally in love with this bathing suit, but I like it... I think I'm gonna keep the tags on in case I find something that I like better. Or, I may just get 2 new bathing suits this year. I haven't had a new suit for at least 2 years, maybe longer!!

My Mom also bought me 2 new pairs of shoes....a really cute pair of brown dress shoes..and a pair of Ked's brown tennis shoe looking things. I decided that I have to start shopping at Shoe Carnival more now..cause they actually carry my size, 5 1/2!! YAY!

On Saturday night, Jesse and I went to Sarah and Jay's house to watch the UFC fight. We had a good time. We got there early so we could see Caylan before she went to bed. There were a lot of people there... (Me & Jesse, Bekah & Jeremy, Brian & Jessica, Sarah & Jay, Eric & Jackie, and Jay's friend, Josh.)

Sunday morning we went to church at Maranatha. Then we went back to my parents house for dinner, Lemon Pepper Chicken!

After that we went over to Brian and Jessica's and the boys dug up bushes from their front yard.

They were filthy!!

Then we all went over to Teays Valley so that we could meet up with Mike & Allyson and their whole family, including dogs. Sarah and Jay came too. The boys played basketball and soccer while the girls talked and the kids played on the playground.

On Monday Jesse and I made it back here to Winston.

Today has been tiring. I'm really sleepy now. I got to sleep in, went to Cracker Barrel from 11 to 2:30. I won the Strawberry Pecan Salad selling contest, so I got a free dinner. I got the Chile Jack Chicken and ate about 1/2 of it, even though I wasn't hungry. I didn't train today, but I'm training tomorrow and Thursday.

When I got home I did some laundry and ran on the treadmill... I went crazy today. I ran 5.64 miles in an hour. That's probably why I'm so tired now!

I took a shower..played around on facebook then went upstairs to watch Idol with Holli. I thought the 2 Davids were REALLY GREAT! I predict that Brooke and Jason will be in the bottom this week. I think its Brooke's turn to go home.

Now I'm gonna go get in the bed...watch Law & Order: SVU and then go to sleep!!

back in NC

I know...its been forever since I've blogged because I've been in WV... Its hard to blog at my parents house cause their computer is in their bedroom...and Jesse doesn't like to let me use his laptop.

tomorrow I'll write more and maybe even add some pictures.

It was a good weekend...

I have some exciting news to share soon...but I can't do it yet!! SO KEEP READING! haha

Goodnight for now, more about the weekend tomorrow!!

back 2 the barrel

It was back to Cracker Barrel today. I trained a lady named Suzanne. She is really sweet and is divorced with 4 kids, ranging in age from 7 to 14. It was really really slow. I only made 36 bucks from 9 to 2:30. This substitute thing is looking better and better!

I just gotta get through tomorrow and then Jesse and I will be on our way back to WV for the weekend! YAY!

After I got home from work today.. I didn't really feel up to running so I kept putting it off. Eventually I made myself get on the treadmill and walk a bit. I ended up walking 1.25 miles before I felt good enough to run. I went 4 miles all together and I was very pleased with that. Not bad for not feeling like running.

I love these new New Balance commercials. They really explain what it feels like to run....

After running...we had dinner...took a shower...watched Survivor. In the middle of Survivor we decided that we wanted something sweet so we went to McDonald's and got 2 ice cream cones..we were back in less than 20 minutes. Speaking of Survivor, I was so sad that Ozzy didn't play his immunity idol. I like Ozzy and I wanted him to win. Now I'm voting for Eric or Amanda to win.

After Survivor, we watched I Am Legend with Will Smith. Wow, I was impressed. I didn't think I was going to like it, but it was really good. It was so terribly heart wrenching that I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to keep watching...but I did and I'm glad. It does have a slightly strange abrupt ending, but its still good.

Now I've gotta finish packing up my stuff for the weekend.....

another good sub day

Today... I got to sleep in. It was wonderful :)

I only did a half day of subbing today...I didn't have to be there until 11:20 am. I went to Lewisville Elementary and it was wonderful. It was a REALLY good school and the kids were great! There was an aide in the room which made things even easier.

I got there... they worked on a math worksheet...we went to lunch...they worked on another math worksheet....they watched a 2 movies about African & North American animals (they went to the zoo yesterday) ...then they packed up their stuff...they had recess...and they left. I had to do bus duty which kinda stunk cause one of the buses was late...so I didn't get to leave until 3 and school was really over at 2:24. But I spent the time talking to a lady and she ended up asking for my "sub card".. like a business card with my sub ID# so they can request me. She said that her mom was best buds with the Art teacher there...so I was happy!

Then I got home... Jesse and I took Kitsy out for a little walk.

After that I got on the treadmill...and I went over 4.25 miles..but I did 3.5 miles without stopping! YAY! Tomorrow I'm going for 4 miles!! Not really, anytime I say that I always wimp out. I think its a mental thing. I do a lot better if I don't put any requirements on myself.

After running and shower, Jesse and I had dinner and then watched We Own the Night. It was good. It wasn't great, but good. I loved Joaquin Phoenix in Walk the Line, but I haven't really liked him in anything else, this movie included.

I just finished watching the American Idol results..and Kristy Lee Cook is gone. Shes not the best...and I'm not surprised shes gone, but I'm a little sad, because I liked her. I would have rather seen Syesha go.

I gotta go to Cracker Barrel tomorrow and I'm supposed to be training someone...fun, fun....

I survived my 2nd day as a "sub"

Wow... today has been a roller coaster!

I woke up around 7:15 am and got ready for school. Luckily West Forsyth is seriously a 5 minute drive from here so I didn't have to wake up too early. Plus, the teacher report time is 8:30! When I was doing my student teaching at Huntington High School I had to be there at 7:20 am!!!

Anyway, the day went very well.... as you would expect with 11th and 12th graders in AP English. There was a kid named Jesse Crouch in one of my classes today.. weird, huh?

Again.. everything was great and I made it home a tad bit before 4pm, so I was happy.....

but... I also kept thinking about the job that I had picked for tomorrow at Carver High School. It was Home Ec. and I know it would have been pretty easy. My only issue was how I was going to get there.

I've never claimed to be a good driver. As a matter of fact, I practically hate driving. I especially hate driving somewhere when I'm not at least 85% sure of where I'm going... ok, maybe closer to 90%...hehe.. I just get soooo nervous, anxious, stressed, tense, even scared.

And.. I'm definitely NOT a city girl. (well, maybe I could be a big city girl where you just walk places or call a cab..but anyway) I'm not a drive all over the city girl...and I'm not a Winston-Salem girl. I'm not even a suburb girl.

When I got home from West Forsyth today.. I was SO stressed out about the drive that I was in tears. Jesse had said that he wasn't going to drive me there to show me how to get there because I needed to learn how to navigate on my own.. plus with gas at $3.40 a gallon, its a waste of money to do that for every sub job I get. But... THANKFULLY Jesse saw how upset I was and decided to have me drive there this afternoon so I could calm down.

We started out just fine... but I had to drive right through downtown with cars coming at me from everywhere...and I kept having to merge, keep left, keep right, blah, blah, blah.... and after a little while I found myself saying, "I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS AGAIN!" And of course I could feel my blood pressure rising.

Then, we got to the school and it was pretty much in the ghetto. I pulled into the driveway and everyone was looking at us like, "Whats up with the white people?" haha... I'm not racist. I knew when I took that job that the school was about 75% black, but that just made me feel weird. I really feel sorry for black people that feel that way around a bunch of white people. Maybe over time you just get used to it. Unfortunately, I'm just not used to that back in WV, ya know?

Anyway... it was right after that when I told Jesse that I wouldn't be coming back there. I cried cause I felt bad for reneging on something I had promised to do..but I got over it.

So, we went home and I cancelled the job...and I felt 1000 times better. I just did NOT want to drive there. Those 15 miles felt like a million!

So I took at job at a local elementary school tomorrow instead. I already know how to get there. ;) Its about 10 minutes away down a quiet back road..hahaha. I know, I'm a baby.

After our excursion I got on the treadmill and walked a quarter mile, then ran 3.28 miles w/o stopping once. (that's 5.88 mph on average) I could have ran even further, but it was 7:15 pm and Jesse and I needed to reheat our leftovers for dinner and shower before going upstairs to watch American Idol w/ Holli and Lester. Its a weekly tradition now.

Speaking of Idol... I was only slightly impressed with the 2 Davids tonight. (granted I missed Kristy Lee Cook because of The Biggest Loser Finale, but of the ones I heard...)

Speaking of the Biggest Loser.. way to go Ally!!! She was the 1st female biggest loser and she REALLY deserved it! She looks amazing!

Time for bed now... I'm beat.

Kitsy Loves Walks!

Today I went to good ol' Cracker Barrel from 11 to 3:30 pm. I changed my availability so that I no longer work there on Mondays. I did that so I can take sub jobs on Mondays, it seems like everyone wants Monday off. :o)

When I got done with work I walked out the doors and checked my phone. Jesse had called twice, left a voicemail, and sent me a text. He wanted me to try to give away my shift for tomorrow because he got me a really good sub job... AP English at West Forsyth High School, which is about 5 minutes from our apartment. I was a little mad at him at first for accepting a job on my behalf...but it was a REALLY good job. Those don't come up on the sub website very often, so I had to forgive him...and call in to Cracker Barrel to tell 'em that I won't be coming to work tomorrow. Last Friday I was nervous about going to my 1st sub job, this time I'm really just excited!

Right now my Kitsy is sitting by the door and meowing..wanting to go outside for a walk. Yes, I put my cat on a leash and take her for walks... She doesn't love the leash so much, but she LOVES to go outside. I can't wait until we buy a house with a screened in porch because she will never leave the porch.

<--this is a picture of my kitty on her leopard print leash.

After Kitsy's little walk I started cooking.. baked ziti, crescent rolls, and salad. After dinner Jesse said, "Thank you for dinner. I would have paid 10 or 12 dollars for that meal" I thought that was really sweet!

I didn't run or do any videos today because I had to stop at the FoodLion on my way from work...and I didn't get home until late. By the time I got home Jesse was already ready for me to cook dinner.....but anyway...after dinner I used some hand weights and worked out my arms.

I just got finished watching "How I Met Your Mother" which is my favorite TV show. Now I guess I'm gonna go get my lunch packed for tomorrow! WiSh mE lUcK!!!

Oprah/Tolle Link

http://www.crossroad.to/articles2/08/tolle.htm

sunday..not so fun day

Went to church this morning at Agape.. it was pretty good. It was the 2nd message in a series titled, "GO" from Pastor Whitfield. He showed a video about Oprah's "megachurch" on Monday nights with A New Earth author, Eckhart Tolle. If you are reading this... just know that no matter what they say about it not interferring with your Christian beliefs...it does. If you believe that Jesus is the way to salvation and that no man comes to God except through Him, then you will have issues with Tolle's teaching.

Speaking of which...did everyone hear the American Idol contestants sing
Darlene Zschech's song "Shout to the Lord" on American Idol on Thursday night???????? I was amazed that they would sing that song, although it is an extremely popular Christian song. Wikipedia says that is is sung by an estimated 25 to 30 million churchgoers each week! but anyway... the Idol version cut out the name of Jesus.

Yesterday I had made plans with Jesse to go eat lunch at Qdoba's after church. Then I wanted to go over to the mall and try on some more bathing suits. After that we needed a few things from Walmart and I thought we could pick those up on the way home.

Well..after church we did go to Qdoba's and it was very good. Jesse got a chicken burrito (which was $5.79, I think) and I got a chicken quesadilla (which was $6.29) Qdoba's is oddly a LOT like Chipotle and Moe's. The prices are slightly higher than Moe's but I think the taste and quality is a lot better at Qdoba's...but Moe's does give you free chips.

Well, we were headed on the way to the mall..and I knew it was going to take me a while to find some bathing suits and try them all on. I wanted to go to Dillard's, Belk, JCPenney's and Macy's. Anyway...we were on our way and its already like almost 2 o'clock...and Jesse says that he wants to make it home by 3:30 to watch the Master's. haha.... I was supposed to go to the mall and walmart in an hour and a half??

So I told him to turn around and just go to Walmart. I guess I'll have to go to the mall by myself cause Jesse just doesn't have enough patience to shop with me when I'm actually looking for something.

When we got home from Walmart we went over to the apartment complex's gym. I ran 1.75 miles w/o stopping. The stupid treadmill screwed up so I don't know how far I went all together, but...it was about 3.5 miles. It was really hot in there and my face was blood red.

Then I took a bath and read my book. Now I'm reading Nicholas Spark's "The Rescue" which I borrowed from Holli.

I survived my 1st sub job!

Yesterday was the 1st day I've missed a day blogging in a long time! But I have a good excuse.... on Thursday I was concerned about getting my junk and thoughts gathered for my 1st substitute teaching job that was today.

Cracker Barrel on Thursday may have been the slowest day I can remember EVER! I only had 2 tables in well over 2 hours. I was happy to be training.

When I got home we went over to the apartment's gym and I realized that its freakin' HOT in there..and I don't really like their treadmill. It doesn't have as bunch springy-bounce as mine. So I don't think I'll be going back there.

Thursday night Jesse and I watched "Things We Lost In The Fire." It was kinda different, but a pretty good movie. Its about dealing with death and addiction.

This morning I had to wake up really early. I went to North Forsyth High School which is about a 20 minute drive. The substitute website said that I should be there at 8:20 am. I thought that I should be there at 8 to get myself situated and stuff so I left early, 7:25 am in case of traffic. I stopped at a gas station and got some coffee and still made it there by 7:50.

After I made it into the classroom, I found out that 1st period didn't even start until 8:55!!

1st period was Art I and had 26 students. One loudmouth kid stood up and asked me what my name was... I say, "Mrs. Crouch," He says, "And your first name?" I say, "Erin, but..." He interrupts and says, "& your phone number?" haha....

The teacher left a boring, crappy, old video about M. C. Escher and afterwards the students had to complete a quiz on the video.

2nd period was Art 2 and had 20 students. It went pretty smooth except for 2 boys who asked me if they could go outside and skateboard.

2nd period was over at 12:06 pm and I didn't have another class until 2:11 pm. I talked to Jesse on my cell phone, ate lunch, and watched a little TV. The classroom got NBC, A&E, the Discovery channel, and some other public channels. I got to watch a little Cold Case Files and it made me happy even though I had already seen that episode.

4th period was Art 2 with 20 students, too. It was pretty good but there were 2 girls in there that I recognized from 1st period. I asked them why they were back and at 1st they said that they had Art I and Art II at the same time. I looked for their names on the roster from 1st and they weren't on there...so I asked them why they weren't on both class lists. One said she just transferred to Art I and the other told me she came in there because her real 1st period wasn't doing anything. A few minutes later both girls came up to the desk and apologized for lying to me...you know, once they figured they weren't going to get away with it. I still left a note for their teacher to let her know what they did.

4th period was cut short because they had to go to homeroom and get report cards. I left around 3:50. It was a pretty good day...a long day, but an easy day.

When I got home today I did my yoga video and cleaned the house quite a bit.. I still have more cleaning for tomorrow. I really should go get in the shower. I'm really sleepy!

life is good :o)

Today was actually a good day at Cracker Barrel even though I had to wake up really early! :) I found out that I am training Bronwyn again tomorrow and that makes me happy! And we got outta there a tad bit early.

After work I went to the Goodwill and bought a bunch of stuff.....a silicone muffin pan with cups shaped like hearts, two kitty cat food dishes, a t-shirt, yarn, and a wood peg board that I will eventually paint. It was a good trip! :) I wanted to buy a cool spice rack and paint it but...it was 6 dollars...haha..

Tonight a bunch of people that work with Lester and Jesse are coming here. We are having a little cook out so I gotta go get ready for that in a few minutes.

I ran on the treadmill earlier... I'm proud of myself.. I ran 5 miles in 55 minutes. So my average speed today was 5.46 mph.

I gotta run... maybe I'll write more later

Tuesday, April 8, 2008

our lunch special today is meatloaf...

Cracker Barrel was ok today. Of course I trained Bronwyn today and I do think it helped make the day go by faster.

I tried to go online and search for some information on the school I'm going to on Friday. At first I got really excited because their website was nice and had lots of info. I even found the Art teacher's schedule! ... haha, but it was in Georgia! I searched again and found nothing...so now I'm depressed.

I ran today, but I changed it up a little. Jesse and Lester were going over to the "gym" at the apartment complex. So, I went over there too. I ran 3 miles on their treadmill and then I got on a recumbent bike for 15 minutes of pure torture. After that I did a little bit with the weights.

We had taco salad for dinner and it was sooo yummy. I could eat taco salad everyday!!

I tried to watch American Idol upstairs at Holli and Lester's house. BUT, Jesse had the remote and he kept changing the chanel over to the Biggest Loser even when people were singing. I got mad and came back downstairs to watch it by myself. grrrrr......... David Archuletta was good. I even thought that Kristy Lee was good. I don't know who to predict will be in the bottom 3 this week. We shall see!!

is it monday again?...already?

so...the weekend was good.

I wrote kinda early on Saturday and things didn't turn out as I had planned, but thats ok.

Instead of making that Chile Jack Chicken, we ordered some PizzaHut with Holli and Lester. Then we watched about a bizillion hours of basketball. While the games were on I uploaded a bunch of pictures on Myspace using Jesse's laptop. I wish I would have had that thing while I was in college. It would have been especially nice to have while in the dorms at Bible College. Of course that was about 7 years ago and they weren't really available.

Anyway... after church on sunday Jesse and I had our chile jack chicken, which was pretty good. I used the leftovers today to make chicken quesadillas which were absolutely delicious!! We use these awesome jalapeno cheddar tortillas...I buy them in the bread aisle at Walmart. I think they are made my Mission. You all should try them! They're the best!

We kinda just hung around on Sunday. The weather here has been kinda yucky lately so there wasn't much to do.

On sunday night our church down here had a special service with John Bevere. (If you don't know who he is, he is a very popular Christian author and speaker) It was a great message. He talked about his book, "Driven by Eternity." I really felt like I got a lot out of it and it was very entertaining too.

Today I went to Cracker Barrel and Bronwyn was there. I was training her again today...and I think shes going to be with me for the rest of the week! YAY! When I'm training I feel like the day goes by quicker...plus, you get help with sidework and silverware!!

After work I ran/walked on the treadmill.... over 4 miles in 45 minutes. I typically walk about a quarter mile, then run a mile or so, then walk a quarter mile and so on.... and I have been running at a 2% incline. I think tomorrow I may crank it up a notch and try 3. :) We'll see how that goes...or if its nice out maybe Jesse and I will go for a little jog outside! Today my average speed was 5.52 mph. I'm going to try to increase this number over the next few weeks.

Last night Jesse and I were looking at sub jobs on the Forsyth County's sub job finder webpage and one popped up for an Art teacher at North Forsyth High School for Friday, the only day I have off this week. Jesse clicked "Accept" so I guess I'm gonna be headed to my first substitute job on Friday. Pray for me everybody!! :) No, really... pray. I'm a little nervous about it!

For now... I gotta go blow dry my hair and get upstairs for this championship game! YAY, its over!!!

Saturday..what a day

Its been a boring day around here. Its rainy here in Winston. Even my cat is lethargic...ok, lethargicER than normal.

I woke up and got a little house work done. Then I made some french toast for breakfast. :) Now I have been playing on the Internet for awhile and I'm kinda bored. Jesse is upstairs with Holli and Lester.

Yesterday I went to Kohl's and Target and I tried on about 20 bathing suits. I wasn't crazy about any of them but there were a few that I liked. I didn't use my 10 dollars Kohl's coupon yet....but its good until May 1st.

I ran in Michael's but they didn't have any of those little peg board things I wanted. Oh well.... Since I didn't buy anything in there I didn't see any reason to pull out my paint & crafty stuff...so just X that offa my "to do list"

I did watch that movie yesterday. I did go to Wal-mart. I haven't gone to the library just yet...but I wasn't near there yesterday. I may go later if I'm still bored. I'd like to go to the Goodwill just to look around.

I wanted to go to the mall with Jesse tonight and maybe look for some more bathing suits...but I can't cause the stupid basketball games are on! BLAH!

Tonight I am making my own version of "Chile Jack Chicken" for dinner. Cracker Barrel just started it in a new promotion for the Spring. Its their grilled chicken tenderloins topped w/ grilled onions and green chiles. Then its topped with Monterrey Jack cheese and served with salsa on the side! I'm marinating some chicken now so that Jesse can grill it up later tonight! :) I think we are gonna have a salad with it.

Well... my head is lookin' pretty hideous right now.. so I think I'm gonna go try to make myself look respectable :)

I get a long weekend!

I guess because I asked for last friday off the scheduling manager at Cracker Barrel just pretty much left my schedule the same for this week. So, I'm not scheduled for tomorrow at all. I ain't complainin'

Today was a pretty good day at Cracker Barrel. My trainee, Bronwyn, called in so I didn't have to train her. I'm actually kinda glad that she wasn't there because it was really busy and I had 5 tables.

Maybe I'll train her next week...if she comes back. We'll see.

Jesse and I just watched "The Kite Runner" and I absolutely LOVED it. It has such a good message and a good heart. I thought it was a great story and I'm glad they didn't leave any part of it out. With that being said, it is over 2 hours long. Of course...Jesse was kinda bored and I heard him snore once. I thought it was great though and theres no way I could have fallen asleep! If you are reading this and thinking about watching it, here is a warning. The first hour is almost entirely in an Afghan dialect of Persian called Dari, so there are lots of subtitles.

Here is what Roger Ebert had to say about the film...

"How long has it been since you saw a movie that succeeds as pure
story? That doesn't depend on stars, effects or genres, but simply fascinates
you with how it will turn out? Marc Forster's "The Kite Runner," based on a much-loved novel, is a movie like that. It superimposes human faces and a historical context on the tragic images of war from Afghanistan.

The story begins with boys flying kites. It is the city of
Kabul in 1978, before the Russians, the Taliban, the Americans and the anarchy.
Amir (Zekiria Ebrahimi) joins with countless other boys in filling the sky with
kites; sometimes they dance on the rooftops while dueling, trying to cut other
kite strings with their own. Amir's friend is Hassan (Ahmad Khan Mahmoodzada),
the son of the family's longtime servant Ali, who has been with them for years
and has become like family himself. Hassan is the best kite runner in the
neighborhood, correctly predicting when a kite will return to earth and waiting
there to retrieve it.

The boys live in a healthy, vibrant city, not yet touched by war. Amir's father, Baba (Homayoun Ershadi), is an intellectual and secularist who has no use for the mullahs. Baba, whose kindly eyes are benevolent, loves both boys.

There is a neighborhood bully named Assef, jealous of Amir's kite, his skills and his kite runner. On a day that will shape the course of many lives, he and his gang track down Hassan, attack him and rape him. Amir arrives to see the assault taking place, and to his shame, sneaks away."--You can read more on Roger Ebert's website, but don't read any more if you want to watch the movie!!

That was just the beginning of the story.... the boy actors are incredible! As a matter of fact, I just found out that the boys in the movies were actual Afghans and had to be put into hiding after the movie came out. Here is a link to an article about it. I must have really liked the movie.. It really touched me... because I can't stop thinking about it.

I ran on the treadmill again today. 4 miles in about 45 minutes again! :) Now my lower back is really sore. I'm not sure why...but maybe just from the impact of running so much in the past 2 days. It feels like a really deep bruise. My knee hurts a bit too.. I think I'm getting old and falling apart.

I have a lot that I want to accomplish this weekend. I probably won't get it all done, but thats ok.

my to do list

[ ] watch "The Last Sin-Eater" (a movie made about a Christian book I once read by Francine Rivers)

[ ] find my paint & craft stuff that I have packed away in my closet.

[ ] go to Wal-mart (yay! we'll actually have food to eat!)

[ ] go to Michael's---I want a peg board thingie that you hang stuff on

adios muchacha

so FINALLY.... after I thought she was going home like 5 times...Ramiele is OFF American Idol! YAY!

Wahooo.... I'm excited about going to the Outer Banks! We are going the week of June 22nd! Yippeee!

happy day!

I was in a bad mood yesterday...so today I'm making up for it. I'm in a MUCH better mood today! :)

I think my exercise routine helps me have my necessary endorphins... today I was on the treadmill for 45 minutes and in that span of time I was able to walk/run over 4 miles! I was very proud of myself. Yesterday I couldn't find the energy to do anything and it made me feel like crap.

Yesterday I didn't eat lunch... I think I might have eaten some Easter candy. Probably the reason I lacked energy!

Today I stopped at McDonald's on the way home from CB. I got a water, a parfait and a honey mustard grilled chicken snack wrap. Click here: McDonald's USA - Nutrition Facts for Your McMeal My meal had 420 calories, 11 grams of fat, 22 grams of protein, and 2 grams of fiber.

Tonight for dinner Jesse grilled some chicken breasts. I made a box of stove-top stuffing (Jesse LOVES that stuff!) and some Hot Corn.

Here's the recipe...

Cracker Barrel went pretty well today. (Aside from a Shift Leader named Linda getting onto me for not wiping my table...shes a spaz!) I worked 9 to 3 and made almost 60 bucks. I trained a girl today. Her name is Bronwyn. I know, strange name....but I like it. Shes a strange girl too, but she kinda grows on you.
Well.. I'll let you know if I find a good hair salon.
I guess I'm going to go search the Internet for a good hair salon in Winston...and then I'm gonna go upstairs to watch the American Idol results w/ Holli & Lester.

yo yo dawg

Just my opinion...but I think Ramielle or Kristy Lee Cook shall be packin' their bags tomorrow. Personally I'm hoping its Ramielle, but I've never been a fan. As of right now my vote is for David Cook to win! :) Brooke White is my #2 and David Archuletta is my 3. Jason Castro is #4.....The Austrailian guy is #5...Carly is #6....Syesha is 7....Kristy Lee Cook is 8....and Ramielle is my #9. Here's a link to the american idol webpage.

bad mood today

I've been cranky today for no good reason. I'm going to try to be nice for the rest of the evening!

I was in the smoking section at Cracker Barrel today... for about 40 minutes. Then I got moved to the middle dining room and I was SO glad.

I wanted to go for a walk/jog with Jesse when I got home cause it was so pretty and nice today. Well... he decided that we should find a different trail. So we drove around to 2 different parks but neither were as nice as the one we usually use. So, we left them and went over to our normal place. Jesse shot his basketball a little..but by that point I had lost my energy and I had to pee. There was a porta-potty over there but it was NASTY & I wasn't about to go in there. Yuck.

So we came home and cleaned out the fridge...loaded the dishwasher...swept the floor....and then cooked dinner.

We had seared salmon with a balsamic vinegar reduction sauce with pasta salad in a balsamic basil vinaigrette. I had some corn and Jesse had a baked potato. I know...too many starches, but we haven't been to Wal-mart in 3 weeks... I have been trying to use what we have and clean out the fridge, freezer, and the pantry this week. I was going to make some frozen broccoli but when I thawed it there were only 4 florets left.... I hate how they give you all stalks. So I had to use the veggies that I had.

I have friday off this week and I'm really glad. I hate working 5 days straight..I know, I'm spoiled. But Jesse and I desperately need to go to Wal-mart and we'll probably drive to the Mocksville Wal-mart on Friday.

In just a few minutes Jesse and I will be going upstairs to watch American Idol w/ Holli & Lester. I still haven't had a shower and my hair probably smells like Cracker Barrel's fireplace..so I'm going to go spray some body spray on it. :) I can't miss American Idol for a shower!!
