life is short

Yesterday I heard some terrible news.

My friend Amy (that I ran with in the fall) her family is in need of prayer right now. You may have heard on the news that a Putnam County man was killed in a car wreck on I-79 in Harrison County on Sunday night. It was Amy's father and youngest brother, Adam. Amy has written two notes on her Facebook page about it...she seems so strong. She said that they are comforted by the fact that both her brother and dad had trusted Jesus as their Savior and that they know they will see them again. Luckily, I know Amy's family is very close. She has an older brother, a younger brother and two sisters-in-law. I know Amy's faith is very strong and she'll make it through this rough time. Please pray for her mom, Jean. Amy lost a brother and her father, which is terrible enough, but Jean lost her baby boy and her husband on the same day. Its just a nightmare. Praise God that they knew Jesus...

All day yesterday after I found out about this... I had the Mandissa song "Only the World" in my head. The lyrics are so true.

Verse 1: Been a hard one, Been a bad one
Been a tough one, Been a sad one
It's been one of those days that keeps chipping away at my heart
Nothing new here, so what I do here its a stereo-typical day, in the life
I'm surrounded by all of the pain and the strife
but I know it's alright, woah oh

Chorus: Cause it's only the world I'm living in
It's only the day I've been given
There ain't a way I'm giving in Cause it's only the world (only the world)
I know the best is still yet to come
cause even when my deeds in the world are done
It's gonna be so much more than only the world to me
do do do do do do do do do, yeah its only the world

Verse 2: Anybody can you hear me? Do you feel me? Me, can you feel me?
I know I'm not the only one wearing the weight of this world
We got problems (said it's alright)
Just remember (yeah, it's alright)
Take a good around we're just stuck on the ground for a little while
Don't it make ya smile.

Chorus: Cause it's only the world I'm living in (Yeah)
It's only the day I've been given (Given)
There ain't a way I'm giving in Cause it's only the world (only the world)
I know the best is still yet to come
cause even when my deeds in the world are done
It's gonna be so much more than only the world to me

Bridge: Heaven is a place where the tears on every face will be wiped away
Oh and I can't wait to go, but for know it's enough to know,
this is only temporary, this is only temporary.

As Christians we are so blessed to know that all of the pain in this life if just temporary. We have the promise of seeing our loved ones again. We have the supernatural peace of God that passes all human understanding. (translation: we have peace when other people would be freaking out) If anyone reading this doesn't have this peace...and wants it, then please email me at mrscrouchlovesart@gmail.com. Jesus is the only way to have true peace.

Amy, in her two Facebook notes, has shown some amazing strength and faith. I'm sure she would agree with me that its because she has the peace of God.

The most striking thing she posted was this, her last sentence... "Don't forget to tell those closest to you how much you love them"

What an important lesson. We are so caught up in our lives that we forget things that are so simple and so important. None of us are guaranteed to see tomorrow. Life is so short.
